Ergonomics and Computer use

Computer ergonomy

What is ergonomics?

Ergonomics
covers all aspects of a job, from the physical
stresses it places on
joints, muscles, nerves, tendons, bones and the like, to environmental factors which can effect
hearing, vision, and general comfort and health.
Most common
reasons to cause pain due to a bad ergonomy are Carpal tunnel syndrome,
Tendonitis, Tenosynovitis, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, many back injuries, and
several other conditions may result from repetitive motions.

"Designing
the job to fit the worker, not forcing the worker to fit the job."

Position

1. Feet flat on the floor. Adjust the height of the chair so the knees and hips are at 90 degrees.

2. Thighs tilted slightly. Share the weight evenly on both sitting bones.

3. Forearms level or tilted down slightly. Elbows more than 90 degrees and keep them close to your          body.

4. Forearms, hands and wrists in a straight line. Use mouse with both hands if possible.

5. Lower back supported. Adjust your chair's backrest so the curve of the chair matches with your lordosis of your back.

6. Keep your head and body straight and shoulders relaxed.

7. Eyes looking slightly downwards without bending from the neck.

8. Top of screen at or slightly below eye level. You may need to adjust the height of your monitor.

Saddle chair

Change your
position every two hours.

You can use
saddlechair when you have half-sitting position. This position strengthen your
back and abdominal muscles. It improves your posture and breathing. It allows
you to use your legs.
During the
work day you should stand up and set your table to the right height. Stand flat
on your both feet. The benefits of standing: Improve your posture, decrease
back and shoulder pains and increase your well-being at work.

Doing like
this you enjoy your job and you keep going better.

  1. Thank you for your contribution! I'm glad you mentioned some health issues caused by bad ergonomics.
I wish the first section was a bit more reader-friendly
(= the appearance of the sentences). Do mention your sources, especially since you're using direct citations.
Your work would have benefited from a couple of illustrations. (Feel free to add afterwards!)
    Good & informative points!
